Grade 3, Room 105
Welcome
It is hard to believe that we are already in the last Trimester. Where has the time gone?
We have just finished the Terra Nova tests and the students are very anxious to get back to the "normal" routine.
In Religion we are now beginning our third and last unit entitled "We Live". We will be looking at things that we as Christians do to live the Commandments.
Our unit in Reading is "Are We There Yet?" and it takes us to other times and places that can teach us how we can make our lives better. We will be studying making judgments, fact and opinion, predicting, author's purpose, visualizing, steps in a process, and many more skills.
In English we are focusing on the proper way of writing personal letters. Our grammar section is on verbs - regular, irregular, present, past, and future tenses.
We are now beginning a unit in Science called "Our Earth". In it we will learn about minerals and rocks, kinds of soils, fossils and fuels, and saving out resources.
When we finish the unit in Science we will move into Social Studies where we will discuss the rights and responsibilities of citizens, and the stucture and purpose of local, state, and national government.
Math has us deep into the multiplication and division processes. We have recently finished measurement, and are now moving into some geometry and fractions.
Of course we continue to try new recipes in Cooking Corner, enjoy singing together, and creating wonderful art projects.
Here are a few reminders to help things run smoothly as the year winds down:
1. Check assignment notebooks daily for homework and
reminders.
2. ***Please give help on make-up work, and check that homework is done correctly and neatly.
3. Don't forget to work on the
multiplication and division facts. The students need speed in the answering of these facts.

returns after illness even though you have called the school office. This is
required by state law and we
keep them on file.
6. Children have time for a healthy snack each day. Please help your child remember to bring one.
