Greetings from Room 2! Happy autumn! Wow! It is hard to believe that we have been in school almost ten weeks! The last nine weeks of school have been very busy and productive. We have been busy developing routines for learning in the classroom. Establishing routines in the classroom allows children to become members of a community that helps create positive relationships, and those relationships help build effective learning environments. The first trimester of school is very important.
Our mornings consist of journal writing, reading, writing, phonics and religion. We have math and story time every afternoon. Science, handwriting, art and social studies fill the rest of our afternoon time.
You will be happy to know that the Room 2 Cubs and Sox actually made it to the World Series (phonics baseball). The winning team determined the treat for both teams. Ice cream sundaes were enjoyed by all!
The students are enjoying Spanish class (Wednesday 9:50-10:20). Each week a letter goes home with vocabulary words that have been taught in class.
Our class had their first Gallery 43 art lesson. The children did some amazing self-portraits. Thank you to the moms for making the class so special!
We are looking forward to the next class.
We went to a pumpkin farm the last week of October. A great time was had by all. We saw some very unusual animals on the farm. We are also planning a walking trip to our local library as soon as the details are worked out.
Fun Fair was on Halloween this year! Students dressed up in costume and enjoyed some time in the gym which was converted into a carnival atmosphere.
Thanks for your support and cooperation!
