TERRA NOVAS ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER MARCH 1, 2010-MARCH 12, 2010

Terra Nova testing for children in Grades 3-7 will begin Monday, March 1, 2010. To help the students perform to the best of their abilities, we are asking for your help.

Please see that your child gets to bed early so he/she has a good night’s sleep. Make sure that they eat breakfast before coming to school. Also, please send a HEALTHY snack for break time, no drinks. In addition, please ensure that your child has their library books each day, and that they have at least 10 sharpened #2 pencils each day. It is distracting to the other students to have the pencil sharpener in use during a test, or to have a student asking to borrow a pencil. I am stressing the importance of not getting out of their seats, talking during testing, or asking to use the bathroom/ get a drink of water due to the disturbance that it would cause. In the case that someone does not follow these rules, a detention will be given immediately.

This is not a test that can be studied for, or one that affects their report card grades. Rather, it measures the skills that the students have learned up to this point. We will be taking practice tests the week before to shake off any anxieties a student may have. Thank you for your help and continued support!

The students will be receiving a small amount of homework during the week, such as Spelling and other small assignments.
