Merry
Christmas to Everyone from the Music Department!!
We've been very busy getting ready for the Christmas Show.
This year we are celebrating "Christmas Music".
Performers for his program include ALL 2nd and 6th
Graders, Chorus, some 4th Grade dancers, Junior Orchestra and Senior
Orchestra.
Morning and afternoon performances are on Tuesday, December
16.
The evening performance is on December
17 at 7:00PM in Buckley Hall
Our Composer of the month also has a Christmas connection, none
other than the composer of the Nutcracker...Peter Tchaikovsky.
Many of the students recognized the
music.
We also included some music from
two other famous ballets..."
SwanLake" and "Sleeping Beauty".
The Broadway musical featured in our current
Music
Express Magazine is the Rock Musical, "Rent", the song chosen matches our
feeling during Christmastime…"Season of Love."
We also learned some history about "Good King Wenceslas."
Broadway musicals were also covered by the Junior High.
The 7th Grade textbook has a script and music from
the show, "Oliver".
For the 8th Grade,
Music Alive Magazine
has an article on Broadway Musical Revivals.
It featured a synopsis of the story and music
from "Gypsy" and "South Pacific".
We’ll be spending some time simply singing Christmas Carols
and Christmas Pop Tunes.
One of the most
popular of these is, of course, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer".
See you at the Christmas Show!!
