Welcome to Room 204!
I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year. This promises to be a very exciting year for all of us. Working together, I know that it will be a very successful one as well.
If you have not had the chance to do so already, please look over the information at the front of the assignment notebook. This section provides important details on the guidelines set forth by St. Edward School, including a general discipline policy and the various uniform codes. In addition, the school calendar provides additional information on school procedures and special events throughout the year.
The students in Room 204 have Music, Gym, and Computer class each week. Spanish language class, presented by Language Stars, is also once a week. The students will visit the school library every other week this school year. Please see the attached daily schedule for the days and times of each of your child's classes.
The students are responsible for remembering their gym uniforms on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will not be allowed to call home for their uniform if it is forgotten. They also need to keep track of their library book due dates. A list of homework assignments and reminders is kept on the chalkboard each day for the students to update their assignment notebooks. The bulletin board to the right of the front chalkboard contains a list of music lessons, orchestra members, the hot lunch schedule, and a school calendar for the students to reference whenever needed.
The students have received a schedule that details the switches for the morning. Students in Room 204 will have Mrs. Sammon for Mathematics, Ms. Brinkworth for Science, and Ms. Rosasco for Social Studies and Spelling. We will employ a rotating schedule to ensure that students taking a music lesson will not miss the same class each week.
Homework is given on a regular basis by the 5th and 6th grade teachers. Students are alerted in advance to an upcoming test or project, and reminders are frequently given. When a student misses an assignment in one of my classes, they still have a chance to hand in the work for partial credit. Students that miss work due to absence have additional time to make up the work based on the length and severity of the absence. For more information concerning the Homework/Discipline Policy for 5-8th grades, please see the attached sheet.
Thank you very much for having the confidence in me to teach your child this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at school, with a note, or through e-mail at davidchun204@hotmail.com.
Thank you,
David Chun
