The St. Edward Youth Sports Program under the direction of Athletic Director, Mike Kelly, provides a participatory, recreational and competitive sports program as an extension of the St. Edward School academic program. This program promotes the development of the whole child—the religious, moral, social, and academic dimensions, as well as physical development. Participants learn the fundamentals of each sport and are given the opportunity to develop a sense of good sportsmanship, fair play and team spirit. We follow the athletic guidelines set by the Archdiocese of Chicago for Catholic elementary schools. Click on the image below for the Handbook.
St. Edward participates in the Northwest Catholic Conference. Some of the teams we compete against are from PFGA, St. Francis Borgia, St. Barts, St Juliana, Immaculate Conception and Queen of All Saints.
St. Edward Athletic Youth Program depends on parents of participants to volunteer time in order to make our program run smoothly. The cost to sponsor each team in a league, plus pay for referee/officials fees far outweighs what we charge each student to participate. In addition, we must purchase uniforms, equipment, and maintain our facilities. We raise money to cover the difference in our costs versus our fees by various means including admission fees to events , concession sales, and our largest fundraiser of the year the Super Bowl Party.

Known as the “Big Red,” our sports colors are red and white. We have a no cut policy; everybody makes the team. We ask participants, parents and coaches to Honor the Game, respecting ROOTS (Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates and Self), and encourage others to Honor the Game. All parents and players are required to sign a Code of Conduct each year.
Gym Facility Use: Policy requires that any person or team reserving gym time must get approval from Athletic Director, Mike Kelly and it must be scheduled with the parish rectory. The rectory maintains a master online calendar. If there are any conflicts the calendar takes precedent.

Fees are as follows – payment is due by the 1st game of each sport. We encourage payment via on-line at Give Central or check payable to “St. Edward Youth Sports Program”. Pay by sport or pay all fees at one-time.
$60 for Football, Basketball (is one fee regardless of NWCC and/or other leagues) and Volleyball
$20 for Cheerleading, Softball, T-ball and Intramural Basketball
Bitty Basketball has tiered pricing based on number of players from same family. Early bird registration only available until August 7th.
