How happy and honored we are to be a BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL. So many people are responsible for us achieving this prestigious award. Thank you for all your support through the decades.
In recognition of our Blue Ribbon achievement on Sunday, October 29, Bishop Francis Kane will celebrate Mass at 11:00 A M. at St. Edward Church. We are hopeful that our families will come out to join us in thanking God. We want to “pack the Church” like we “pack the gym.” Some of the former Sisters who taught at St. Edward will be here for the celebration. There will be a reception in the lower Church after the Mass. Please join us!
Gaming Night was a HUGE success. The evening was sponsored by our Fourth and Sixth grade parents who generously donated their time, talent and treasure. A GREAT time was had by all.
Special thanks to Cindy Rosasco for another very successful Chalk Walk. Again, we raised about $18,000. Thanks you Cindy, for a job well done and thanks to all the parents who support this fundraiser.
Homecoming was a perfect day. There were so many alumni and parents that came out to cheer on our football teams. The next day was the Golf Outing and many of our parents and alumni tried out their golf skills for a perfect day of “fun in the sun.”
On Saturday, October 23, the Reconciliation Retreat for our Second Graders was held in St. Edward Church and lower church. Thanks to Fr. Dominic, Karen Valentino, and our Seminarian Mark for their work with the parents and students. It was a very informative day of prayer and sharing.
The online sign-up for Parent – Teacher Conferences seemed to work well again this year. It is always good to keep in contact with the teachers and keep an open line of communication.
Fun Fair will be on Friday, October 27. This is always a fun time for our students. Thanks to Sarah McCann and all of our parents who volunteer their time to make this a very special day.
Our students took the first Interim ACT Aspire Test last week. We do three Interims and then the Spring ACT Aspire Test in April. The Interims are to collect data to determine how we can best help our students.
The eighth graders went to Holy Fire at UIC last Friday. It was an inspiring and prayerful experience for our students. They were joined by several thousand students from around the Archdiocese. Thanks to Fr. Dominic, Caitlin Sammon, and Tracy Mortimer for accompanying our students.
Tracy Mortimer and I will be flying to Washington, D.C. on Friday, November 3, to attend the Blue Ribbon Award Program on Nov. 6th and 7th. There is a luncheon on Tuesday, at which time the United States Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, will officially present the Award. We fly home on Wednesday.
Enjoy the cool air, the fall colors, and all that autumn has to offer us.
Sr. Marie Michelle, OP.
