Principal’s News – Nov. 7th

Dear St. Edward School Families,
St. Edward is one of a few schools in the Archdiocese piloting a program called
I-Ready for kindergarten through second grade.  In the next few weeks, all of the students in kindergarten through second grade will take an online assessment in both reading and math.  The assessment is adaptive meaning that when a student answers a question correctly, the next question will be more difficult and conversely, when a student answers a question incorrectly, the next question will be easier.  The computer will continue asking the student questions with a break in the middle until it can create a composite score for the student in the main focus areas of both reading and math.
The teachers will have immediate access to those results and can begin individualizing instruction in the classroom as well as using the I-Ready online instruction tools to promote student growth in those key areas.  The teachers and I have begun training in the I-Ready program and will continue training during the year to ensure a successful implementation.  If you would like to learn more about the program, click here or contact me.
Please contact the office with any questions.
Let’s have the faith to move mountains this year!  St. Edward, pray for us!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Sara Lasica, Principal
