Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to another school year. We are off to a good start and the weather has certainly cooperated. Hope you all had a relaxed summer with some time for vacation and family time.
WE HAVE A PLAYGROUND! Thanks to the many volunteers, both present and former school parents, who were here this weekend and worked tirelessly to put it all together. It is lovely and will be enjoyed by our students for many years to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who contributed funds, and did the behind the scenes work. It takes a “village” to build a playground and St. Edward Village came through, again, as they always do. You are an amazing community.
You should have received your child/ren’s ACT Aspire scores from our testing in April. Our students did very well and we are proud of their accomplishments. Please take the time to study the test results. It has some very pertinent information that can be helpful to your child/ren’s future success in school.
Three of our teachers had babies this summer. Kasia Gielniewski Guzman had a boy, Matthew Alexander, at the end of July, Kim Emigh Malinowski had a boy, Mason Richard, in early August, and Nicole Holzner Applegate had a baby girl, Allison Marie, in mid-August. All are healthy and doing fine.
Our new faculty members are: David Cho – Physical Education, Gordon Malis – Computer, and
Louis Romo – Spanish. Sister Dorothy Marie, OP. is subbing for Mrs. Applegate and Mr. John Newman is subbing for Mrs. Malinowski. We are happy to have them as part of our faculty.
Movie Night and the Ice Cream Social were a great success. Thanks to all who put these events together. A great time was had by all.
Just a reminder when dropping off or picking up students. Please do not bring dogs around the school. If you do come with a dog please keep them across the street and away from the children. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
We will have Parent Orientation for Pre-K through 5th grade this Thursday, August 31st, from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM. Please come and meet your child/ren’s teachers and find out about their goals and plans for the year.
Enjoy the Labor Day weekend. It usually marks the end of summer. Peace and all good things.
Sr. Marie Michelle, OP
