Principal’s News – April 25th

April 25, 2018

Parents,

Blessed Easter season and happy spring. It will be a treasure to see grass and flowers and hear the birds sing again. Maybe this winter was a gift because it has made us all more conscious of the beauty that usually surrounds us each day. We have had to wait so long for spring this year. Sometimes we become so busy, we miss everyday miracles.

Our students showed off their many fine History Projects at the History Fair on Sunday, April 15th, after all the Sunday Masses. Thanks to Cindy Rosasco and Debbie Polli and the parents and students. The fifth through eighth graders did outstanding work and explored and explained many interesting topics.

The Big Red Auction was another great success. Thanks to our chair people Wendy Shear and Sharon Sintich for a job well done. It was great night made even more fun with all the fantastic outfits our parents wore. A real snapshot of the 80’s!! Also, special thanks to our parents and teachers for all of their wonderful auction items and projects. They were so creative.

Last Sunday, our Eighth graders received the Sacrament of Confirmation at a beautiful Mass celebrated by Bishop Francis Kane. It was a joyous occasion for all. Thanks to Mrs. Caitlin Sammon, our Eighth grade Teacher, for preparing our students for this momentous day.

Our students in grades 3-8 took the ACT Aspire Summative tests last week. Thanks to Ellen Kanik who printed all of the individual tickets for each test. We will not get the results until the middle of July so the results will be sent out at the beginning of the next school year.

May is a busy month full of many activities. Please keep your calendar handy so you won’t miss anything. Some of the activities are outside so we need to pray for good weather.

Our track team has been busy practicing after school. Thanks to Mike Kelly, our Athletic Director, for introducing this new sport. Many of our students have signed up for it and are enthusiastically embracing it. What a healthy way to spend your time – running! (:

Gentle Reminder: Families with 8th grade students must have their financial accounts paid in full by  May 15, or their student will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony, etc. Preschool and Kindergarten students must be current by May 31, or they may not participate in year end celebrations.

Today is Administrative Assistant Day! Thanks to all those who do this job each day and keep offices afloat. Special thanks to Cathy McGill for her many years as the front office at St. Edward School. We appreciate your time and effort.

Blessings on your Spring Days!

Sincerely,

Sister Marie Michelle, OP.
