St. Edward School offers students a challenging academic environment rooted in Christian values. Small class sizes provide a stimulating learning environment with individualized attention. Our graduates leave St. Edward well prepared to excel at many of the most challenging public and private high schools in Chicago.
Curriculum - Our curriculum is rooted in core academic subjects such as English, reading, science, math and social studies and also includes instruction in computer technology, art, music, health, and physical education. Students attend religious education classes daily and Catholic teachings are incorporated in other curricular areas throughout the day. Students also participate in foreign language classes.
St. Edward School's curriculum is aligned with curriculum guidelines provided by the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools and is in line with all curriculum guidelines established by the Illinois State Board of Education.
Technology - St. Edward has three different computer laboratories and all the classrooms in its main building have been wired for Internet access and are connected via the school's fiber optic network.
All of the computer laboratories provide the children with protected Internet access. Students study fundamental technology skills such as word processing, spreadsheet development, Internet research skills and web site design techniques. Computers are also used daily in many of the classrooms and students are encouraged to incorporate technology into classroom projects where appropriate.
Junior high teachers use an Internet-based, on-line grade reporting system. St. Edward parents are able to monitor their children's progress from their home computers at any time throughout the school year.
TEST SCORES - St. Edward students take the TerraNova standardized tests from third grade through seventh grade. Our student's test scores are in the top quartile and they routinely outperform their peers nationwide by a wide margin.
