Saint Edward Catholic School Christian Values Academic Excellence Caring Community

         About St. Edward

St. Edward Catholic School provides a high quality, faith-based education from three-year old preschool through eighth grade.  Academic excellence is enhanced by enrichment activities and a strong community environment that helps our students develop into well-rounded individuals.

St. Edward School is administered by the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, Illinois who maintain a residence adjacent to the school. Founded in 1910 with 200 students, St. Edward currently has 380 students enrolled, who hail from Mayfair and many of the surrounding neighborhoods which include Old Irving Park, Albany Park and Portage Park.

St. Edward has a rich history of serving the area's Catholic youth. It is one of the few area Catholic schools with actual "Sisters" as administrators and teachers. Our  principal, Sister Marie Michelle Hackett, OP, is a Springfield Dominican and there are four nuns serving as teachers in the school. There are a total of eight Dominican Sisters who reside at St. Edward, and their presence provides a rich spiritual element to the school community.

St. Edward School is located on the Northwest side of Chicago near Montrose Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway.  The school makes its home in the Mayfair neighborhood on Sunnyside Avenue between Kostner and Lowell Avenues.
